How a lab sees terpenes — not a kitchen method

Steam, solvent, CO₂, headspace. Why our gold bars are a map of the nose, not a recipe for an extract.

The chart on a strain page is from the keeper we ran. A lab can pull the same fraction with steam distillation, a solvent, or supercritical CO₂. Headspace GC is how you smell the jar without boiling it. We are not going to write temperatures, pressures, or solvent lists. That is a processing SOP. This is a seed shop.

Monoterpenes (limonene, myrcene, pinene, terpinolene, ocimene) fly off first. Sesquiterpenes (caryophyllene, humulene, nerolidol) sit heavier and last longer in a cure — and they are easier to lose if you cook a sample. That is volatility, not folklore.

Broad spectrum versus a single bar

A whole-fraction map is why Orange Gas is limonene over caryophyllene, not ‘limonene strain’. People call that an entourage in the extract world. On this site it means: read the first three bars together. It is not a medical claim, not a dosing guide, and not a reason to make an oil at home.
