Bx1 and Bx2: returning to a parent

Bx1 means the hybrid was crossed back to one parent once. Bx2 means twice. Each return piles more of that parent’s alleles into the pack. Scatter drops. So can vigour, if you go too far — that is inbreeding depression, a separate note.

What a Bx is not

It is not an F1. An F1 is the first cross of two lines — heterosis, spread, a hypothesis. We do not pack F1s because the pedigree looks expensive. Apricot Punch is a recombination of two keepers we already trust, which is a different sentence.
